Baby's first Christmas!

Look how cute her little shoes are!!!!!

Emma could already tell it would be a long day of us posing her for pictures, but once she found out she was going to get presents she decided to cooperate.

Here she is with out Christmas tree. I love our tree, but it barely has any needles left on it.

And here she is at the end of the day, all tuckered out. She got lots of very nice gifts, but of course, she likes the wrapping the best!

Merry Christmas to all...

And to all a good night. Emma says thank you, but it sound like "ah goo". Emma loves her presents, and she's ready for bed. We'll tell you all about our big day later.

Merry Christmas

All I want for Christmas...

Emma wants her two front teeth. "She may be teething soon", the Doctor informed me today. Oh Goodie! She's only been sleeping and screaming today, but I'll blame it on the four shots she got today. She now weights .......... 14 pounds, 2 ounces! She is also 24 3/4 inches long!
She is off the percentile chart. The Doctor said she is very healthy.
She got her first Christmas presents last night. Doesn't she look cute in her new snowsuit!

Super Swaddle

As I mentioned before, Emma is rapidly outgrowing things, including her swaddling blankets. Here she is in a twin size fleece blanket. Finally we found something to contain her. This super swaddle is only for night time. She has been sleeping through the night, so it must be working! Posted by Picasa

Summer clothes...

Emma is growing way too fast. We are currently cramming her into clothes before she completely outgrows them. The other problem is that all the clothes she is outgrowing are summer clothes. It makes sense that we got summer clothes, because the shower was in August. But it is pretty darn cold out there now. Who thought she's be in size 6 months at 2 months old?

We've moved....

I couldn't take friendster anymore. It was too slow and had too many stupid ads, so here we are, safe in the arms of something made by Google! Hooray! Oh how I love Google.
Emma seems happy about it too!

Emma and Earl...

I just love Earl in this picture. He looks like he thinks he's in trouble. He has been in trouble lately. He has learned that when I'm breast feeding Emma, there's not much I can do to him if he acts up. So far, just today, he has eaten almost all the bows on the Christmas presents I just wrapped. He has turned on the stereo, by standing on top of it. (He apparently liked to listen to very loud static.) He has eaten pieces of the tree. He also keeps trying to stand on the baby. He tries to get between Emma and me when I'm feeding her. I can't wait until she big enough to pull his tail!

Hurricane Emma...

Emma is growing quite big. She has outgrown her first set of clothes. She has outgrown her socks. The main problem is that she has outgrown her swaddling blankets. She really likes being swaddled, so we had to find a new solution...and here it is. She is swaddled in a large fleece blanket that I gave to Marc in college. It's about 5 ft by 5ft. And believe it or not, this is starting to be too small to reach around her. I just think it's so funny that it's such a dismal color. She looks like a little baby saved by the red cross. Like she was just pulled out of a hurricane or fire. We bought a new blanket for her. It's bigger than we thought. Stay tuned for that pic.

Skeletor

I wanted to take this picture at Halloween time, but I kept forgetting. Here is Emma and her bear Harold in matching outfits. I think it's great that she's the same size as Harold now. I also like that I can prop her sitting up between the couch cushions.

Christmas parade...

We went to the Christmas parade the other day. It was lots of fun. It was my first time seeing a parade while it was snowing. Emma hated the fire trucks. She thought they were too loud. She slept through seeing Santa. She tends to sleep through most of our activities. And of course I forgot to bring the camera to the parade. But here she is afterwards, all tuckered out:

Tofurkey Day

Note: If you want to see old posts, scroll down on the left and click on one of the recent posts. Then, at the top of the post, you can go back to even older posts.
Over the river and through the woods to Grandmothers house we went. Emma was a very good girl this weekend. We drove three hours, and she only cried a little bit. We visited lots of people, and kept her out kinda late, but she was very very good. Here are some 4 generation pictures:

Here's the 4 Cryans.

And here's 4 from the Sheehan side.

37 days til x-mas

Emma's all ready for christmas.
I got her some Christmas outfits, (thank you Sue) so that I could take her picture for the Christmas cards. (This is not the picture. I didn't want to ruin the suprise) I like to send out my Christmas cards the day after Thanksgiving, because I'm crazy.
I can't wait for baby's first Christmas!
Maybe I should focus on Thanksgiving first.

We're famous

Hey, check out our birth story: http://www.birthsong.net/BirthStories.html
This web site belongs to the woman who taught us hypnobirthing.

And for a quick update:
Emma weighs 11 pounds 1 oz.
Her jaundice is all better, and she's starting to look quite rosie. She is sleeping a good amount, and feeding well. We saw a lactation consultant today (I finally called for help) and now she can feed without the nipple shield and without me having any pain! Hooray!

emma and deb

This is from the Halloween party. So far Deb is the only one Emma really likes to be held by other than Marc and Me. It must be the furry pants.

Cry, cry, cry...

Emma is being a jerk today, so posting this picture is my revenge. It won't effect her now, but you can all tell her you saw this when she's 18.

Being good

Emma's being good now, so I'll put up a good picture. She can be cute when she wants to. This morning, she didn't want to. This morning she wanted to scream for 4 hours, and she did. Now she's tired. Thank goodness.

emma's a party animal

Emma went to her first halloween party. So far, she has worn 3 costumes. She was a duck when she went trick or treating in downtown Maynard with Kathleen. She was a skeleton at Laura and Fred's party, but she changed into her cat outfit, since the skeleton was a little too warm. Emma loves Halloween, and she hasn't even tried candy yet.

visitors

Emma had a very busy weekend. Saturday morning we visited all the people at the Acme Theater. I was very relieved that she slept through the sound of power tools. We went back home and her Grandma and Aunt Mary Beth came to visit. Then the landlord came with people to deliver our new fridge. Sunday, Deb came to visit, and we went pumpkin picking. The only thing we picked were two very strange looking gourds, but we had lots of fun.
Emma is just Miss Popularity. Too bad she sleeps through all the excitement.
In this picture, it looks like Marc is sleeping while standing up. After the nights we've had with Emma, it is entirely possible.

soooooooo tired....

I should have know when she was in my belly, kicking late at night, that I was going to have a nocturnal baby. Things are looking up though, she went 6 whole hours without eating last night. She only slept for 3 of those hours, but I think it still counts as progress. She woke us up at 2:45 am, I fed her, then we took turns doing laps of the house, trying to get her back to sleep. We ending up with the 4 of us (Earl too) sleeping on the couch watching the Muppet Show. She's asleep now, so I have to go take a nap while there's still time!

Beware of Uncle Earl!

This is a candidate for http://www.mycathatesyou.com/ . Earl is adjusting to Emma. He's trying to maintain his dominance over her, but she doesn't care, and that makes Earl mad. He's destroyed two pacifiers already, and he is constantly hunting for more. There's only one left, until the rest arrive in the mail.
About 5 minutes after we arrived home from the hospital, he stole the breast shield ( a plastic nipple I use to feed the baby). Luckily no damage was done. He still keeps jumping in the crib, just not when she's in it. (thank goodness!)
Emma is doing good. Today is our first day without Dad, but we're surviving. (We're watching Family Guy and eating in bed.) We're starting to get better at breast feeding. It would be SO EASY to give her formula, but I must persevere. (Breast milk is just so good for her.) I keep thinking of the disturbing breastfeeding ads that were banned from network TV. You can see them here: http://www.adcouncil.org/campaigns/breastfeeding/ . They're kinda funny, but at the same time wicked sick. (Click on Log Rolling and Mechanical Bull)
Here's a picture from her first walk. She found a leaf! Is she laughing, crying? Who knows!

Happy to be home!

Here is Emma and Mom the day after she was born, and her first picture, a few minutes after being born. You can really see a difference a day makes. She is doing great. We have mastered the art of breastfeeding. She put on 3 Oz. in 2 days. The Dr. said it would have been good if she put on 1 Oz, so 3 is incredible. She is sleeping a lot, and eating a lot, and that's about all. She's a very quiet baby, at least for now. She went for her first walk last night. Dad carried her in the snugli, and we headed out to get chinese food. Today we took our first walk in the stroller, and went to CVS. For the record, when you have a baby, you spend a LOT of money at CVS. Well, it's time to sneak in a nap before the next feeding. Stay tuned for more pictures.
